Mesothelioma Cancer

Mesothelioma Cancer – The Prognosis

Mesothelium is a silver-like soft but tough membrane or sheath that surrounds the organs in the abdominal cavity. It may often contain the peritoneum according the location where it protects the organs. Therefore the membrane that surrounds the heart is called pericardium and will contain the pericardial fluid.

When an individual is exposed to residual particles and in particular the asbestos for a long period of time, they may end up with cancer of the mesothelium which is known as mesothelioma cancer. This is a case in which the cells of the peritoneum membrane have abnormal growth and may secrete excessive amounts of the peritoneum fluids. It can take up to 50 years of exposure to detect the mesothelioma cancer. The challenge with such detection of this cancer is that it is often a little too late and not much can be done to reverse abnormal growths.

There are various early warning symptoms that should prompt further diagnosis and help in arresting the cancer before it spreads to most organs. Among the most common symptoms of mesothelioma cancer is:

Fevers: This is a common indicator of abnormal activity of the human body. Wherever there is fever in the body, one needs to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the causative factor. If one lives in an area that is exposed to the asbestos and frequently experiences fever, he or she should rule out the presence of mesithelioma cancer.

Pains in the chest cavity: This is a highly suspicious symptom of the cancer. It is caused by the larger amounts of peritoneum fluids that obstruct breathing and also squeeze the suspended organs in the chest and abdominal cavities.

Short breaths: These occur due to the larger than unusual amounts of peritoneum fluids that reduce the space required by organs such as the diaphragm.

Like most other cancers, prevention is best done through reducing exposure to the causative factor, in this case, the asbestos. In addition, a good diet that involve taking in natural fruits and vegetables will help in increasing vitamins such as Vitamin E and C. These will be able to increase the body cell’s ability to heal from injuries including those caused by free radicals. When diagnosed, it is advisable that one reduces intake of fruits and floods.

There are many people with this type of cancer. Many however do not know that they are already exposed. Yet you can reduce the pain and suffering through early detection. Do a check up today.
